Ecclesiastes 11:1
I was recently blessed with a special experience that reminded me of the Scripture verse above. God has a way of bringing people back across our paths that can often surprise us!
While on a class field trip to the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts to see a children's theatrical production on the life of Harriet Tubman, I came across Tabitha, a former student I taught at Redemptive Life Academy when she was in 5th grade. She is now a 9th grade student at the Dreyfoos School of the Arts. This mature Christian young lady is now a skilled dance instructor who teaches various forms of dance to all ages.
Tabitha offered to come by Urban Youth Impact to give a free dance lesson to interested 3rd graders. The kids had a wonderful time, as you can see from the picture. It was a blessing to see a kid I had worked with in the past come back across my path to bless kids I am currently working with, to the glory of God.
It is an exciting thought, because as I invest in relationships with these 3rd graders and their families, I often wonder how they will be when they become teenagers and eventually adults. The best thing I know to do is to keep "casting my bread upon the waters" -- loving kids, planting gospel seeds, and reinforcing the values of education and the arts. I trust God to do His work in their hearts as we look to Him.
Thank you for your continued interest in the development of these young people in the inner-city. Please keep their spiritual, social, and educational growth in your prayers.
