2009 marked the end of another year in which God moved mightily! Now we are at the beginning of a new year, and I'm looking forward with faith and focusing on the unfading love God has shed on my heart. The last year has shown me how the Body of Christ can come together and perform miraculous feats when Christ is at the helm.
In addition to the joy of the New Year, I have also faced some real challenges this month. One of the children in Dunbar Village that Tamara and I met on our first date witnessed a murder in his community. His name is Bobby and he is seven-years-old. When I spoke with his mother the day after it happened, she told me that he hadn't slept or left his mother's room. After talking to him for a little while and praying with his family, he agreed to come outside.
As we stepped out, the caution tape was still wrapped around his front porch. Bobby pointed and showed me where it happened, and then he looked up with more intensity than I thought a seven-year-old was capable of and said, "I'm gonna be a policeman when I grow up so I can protect people."
I was so moved to hear that his child wanted to stand against evil by doing good that I could barely choke back the tears! At seven-years-old I scarcely knew the difference between good and evil, but Bobby has courage in his young heart that inspires me! I ask that you please pray for Bobby, his mom Kiesha, and their dog Smokey (a personal request from Bobby himself). I stand in faith and hope with you to see how God will move in this situation.
