Biography

Urban Youth Impact's Founder & President, Bill Hobbs, was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. He moved to West Palm Beach in 1988, where he still lives with his wife Kerry and their daughter Rachel.

Prior to Bill's work with inner-city youth, he was a PGA Golf Professional for 14 years. He served as Head Professional at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens for 3 years, which was the highlight of his golf career.

Bill began following Jesus in 1983 and responded to God’s call to reach out to hurting youth by leaving the PGA and entering full-time ministry in 1988. He served as Youth for Christ’s Youth Guidance Director for 8 years.

While working with Youth for Christ, Bill received a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Palm Beach Atlantic College. In addition to being an ordained minister, he is working toward his master’s degree in Biblical Studies from South Florida Theological Seminary.

In 1997 Bill started Urban Youth Impact, a non-profit organization that serves inner-city youth and their families in Palm Beach County. UYI provides an array of community programs for 130 inner-city youth every week and received the City of West Palm Beach’s Faith-Based/Non-Profit Outreach Award in 2006. In 2008 Bill published his first book, My Longest Drive: One Man's Passion for the Urban Poor.

Bill's desire to be a father to the fatherless has only increased with each passing year, and he is eager to share the stories of what God is doing through UYI on this blog. Enjoy!
